Food Discounts in London and End of Day Sales
The first time in London as a student I feasted on cheap Tesco sandwiches while owning toothpaste that is almost twice the price of a sandwich. A dinner consisting of eating toothpaste and drinking mouthwash (for the alcohol) was definitely on my mind for second after contemplating this fact. I was totally oblivious that there are plenty of food discounts in London.
Since moving to the capital I noticed plenty of food places that have developed plans how to deal with unsold food. While some businesses like Pret A Manger have opted to donate their left-over food to charities or food banks, others decided to reduce their prices before closing.
So instead of stalking the convenience store employees in order to catch them as early as possible when they put the discount sticker on a soggy sandwich I thought I try to make a list of all the places that sell food and offer a discount before they close up the store.
